PHOTO RESTORATION AND RETOUCHING

Almost certainly the greatest strength of digital imaging is the ability to manipulate images from negatives, transparencies or digital files. We can make the improbable possible and put the irretrievable within reach. Old, damaged photographs can be scanned, computer-enhanced and restored, objects and people moved, removed or replaced and text and graphics can be added.

We have a three-tier range of standard charges to cover tasks from colour correction and scratch removal to replacing backgrounds and object removal, as illustrated. All prices quoted include scanning to professional quality JPEG files up to 18 MB, but do not include prints.

Normal turnaround for all manipulation services 5-7 days in-lab and archiving images to CD-ROM +£2.75.

Minor Manipulation - £15.75
Colour and density adjustments; minor scratch and dust removal; removal of small objects on plain surfaces; print creases; localised splashes etc.
Medium Manipulation - £26.25
Colour and density adjustments; moderate scratch, dust and print crease removal; removal of small objects on plain surfaces; manipulation of selected image areas.
Major Manipulation - £36.75
Colour and density adjustments; extensive scratch and dust removal; repair of torn prints; removing backgrounds or people; eye opening.
Custom Manipulation
Not every manipulation requirement falls easily into one of the three tiers outlined above. Photographic montages, for instance, demand a considerable amount of time and effort to piece together into one seamless image. For requirements such as these we will provide a quotation on sight of work, and will carry out the task, if feasible, at a charge of £40.00 per hour.
